  • This looks great. I did the pay pal thing, does that mean I’m fully registered?

Signed up! I’m picking up a new laptop that I intend to bring to this event. Can anyone reccomend what I should be looking for in a laptop for vjing?

  • admin says:

    Hello David,
here’s some recommended specs for a basic, barebones video mixing rig: 1 gigs ram, 1.5 ghz processor, at least 1 gigs available hard drive space for installing demo software.

However, I’ve found that for professional gigs or for best results, you will want some kind of dual-core system, at least 4 gigs ram, 2gHz processor, and a high rpm hard drive (the faster the hard drive spins the more quickly it can read data, essential for responsive “scratching” or video frame rate tweaking).

Looking forward to seeing you at the workshop,
    regards,
    MkUltra

  • Picked up one of these monsters. quad core, 8GB ram, and the new Radeon 5870. Has native 1920×1080 and full 1080p out via HDMI.

Now I’m looking at getting a projector. Any reccomendations? The BenQ 1000W looks ok for a reasonable price. Full native 1080p, 2000 Lumens. Something that will work for bands in a small club, but won’t be to loud for ambient art installations in my apartment. Looks like it goes for about a grand, which sounds fine. What are other people using?
