Bryant Place and Jesse Nikette: Tuesday Jan. 31st @7pm in Hollywood
This time around we welcome visual artists Bryant Place and Jesse Nikette at StandardVision’s brand-new Hollywood office. Bryant will discuss his recent stage/visual design projects involving high profile acts such as Amon Tobin and Skrillex, while Jessee will share his experiences doing visuals for the recent “Skrillex Mothership” tour as well as showcasing the “Spangler”, his MIDI guitar rig.

Over the last few years visual programmer and VJ Bryant Place, a.k.a. CyberPatrolUnit, has worked with luminaries such as the Black Eyed Peas, M.I.A., Kanye West,Skrillex, and renowned film composer Hans Zimmer. In addition to his high profile visual design work as part of Vello Virkhaus’ ”V Squared Labs” team, CPU has designed and installed a highly specialized audio-visualization system for the Marquee Nightclub at the Cosmopolitan Vegas. Recently CPU toured with Richie Hawtin’s PlastikmanLive show in Europe, Japan, and Australia where he headed the technology for the visual system. CPU in the recent months has developed new visual systems and components that can be used on a universal scale.

Jesse’s a VJ. He plays live video and lights from a guitar he built. Jesse has always been interested in technology; in 1997 he hacked into the Pentagon’s mainframe computer database from a Czechoslovakian internet cafe, downloading classified and experimental military project schematics for the years 1946 through 1989. Using a crude yet effective combination of 1950′s alien technology and ancient Zimbabwean voodoo witchcraft allowed him to modify his guitar, emitting psionic pulses that induce erotic pleasure and/or photo-epileptic seizures in adult humans (depending on the individuals’ color clothing). Standard lenses for his video projectors have been replaced with ultra precise carbonized-glass lenses created from the super-heated ashes of his slain enemies. He has also formulated and patented the only known artificial flavor for cantaloupe in existence.
